:pullhair So we went down to TCH for Kendall's preop appt yesterday. We got there at 10:30 so they could draw her blood for testing and we had to see the nurse practitioner at 11:00. Kendall did so well with the blood draw, they had to get a vein in her arm rather than the easy heel poke. She had more of a problem with us holding her down than the needle in the arm! I was so proud of her. Unfortunately, her NS had a family emergency and had left for the airport RIGHT before we got there. I guess this is only the 2nd time in 15 years they've had to reschedule his surgeries, the last time was 10 years ago when his mother passed away, so it must be something horrible that happened. I wasn't angry, just SO upset. I started crying and Janet (the nurse) felt so bad, I told her it was just because waiting is SO hard, and I had gotten myself all prepared and "psyched up" for the big day. My husband had also left that morning with my brother to come down, he had taken 2 weeks off of work and is missing the opportunity for A TON of overtime pay for the 4th of July holiday (he is a police officer). My hub was halfway to my Mom's when we found out, so he just came the rest of the way. Her surgery has been rescheduled for July 26th at 2 p.m. I've made the decision just to stay down here with my Mom until then, travelling is just so stressful and EXPENSIVE, and my Step-Dad is in Iraq right now so my Mom could use the company. This will give my hubby the chance to work tons of overtime to try and bring in some extra money since I am not working,. Also I was supposed to go back to work part-time on August 7th...so that's not going to happen, I hope I don't lose my job but they were really understanding of the extra time I needed in the first place, and it's not like I have any control over this situation.

Yesterday wasn't a TOTAL bust. My hubby had gotten tickets to the Rockies/Mets game to try to keep our minds off of the surgery. So while we waited for him and my brother to get down there, my Mom, Kendall, and I went shopping downtown and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. Kendall had so much fun! The game was great and they had an AMAZING fireworks show afterwards. So today we are just going to relax and bbq. I bought Kendall a little swimming pool the other day and Daddy is going to take her in it later. I found a TINY bikini at Old Navy for her, it's so cute! I will make sure to take pics so you guys can see! So sorry for the long post, I tend to babble when stressed!!! Thank you all for your messages of support, it means so much to me and I don't know what I would do without all of you, really. I will continue to keep you all updated on everything. Also, I was trying to update her website the other day and it was having some problems so I will try to do that today sometime. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO ALL OF US YANKS! WOOHOO! Have a great day everyone.

((HUGS)) Candice. I am sorry that you now have to wait this out. I agree, waiting is the hardest part. It is nice that you have a great day out yesterday and hopefully you will be a little distracted staying with your mom and keeping her company. I'm sure she will enjoy the visit with her grandkids. We're here if you need to vent!!

:hugg's Sorry for the delay. I know the mental 'prepping' for the surgery, oh and then to have to wait more. Enjoy the time with your mom and Kendall. Sounds like the game was fun! :hugg's

:hugg Hey everyone, thanks for the words of encouragement. Today was a good day as well, Kendall had fun in her little pool with Daddy and I got some cute pics and a video I will try to get uploaded. It will be good staying with my Mom, although I will miss my DH like crazy! It's not like we haven't been seperated before when he was in the military. Hope everyone had a great day! :hugg

You poor things!! I know exactly what it is like we got Beth right into theatre and she had to be pulled out for an emergency, and the next day we waited around all day for her surgery only to have it rescheduled for the following week. It is so hard when you are so mentally prepped for the whole ordeal, its great that you have been able to turn it into a positive though and enjoy some well deserved R&R time with the family, I bet your mum is rapt you are staying by her for a bit longer than planned too. Good for hubby too now he doesnt have to feel too guilty about using work to take his mind of things!! Make sure you guys schedule in a date night or something when you get together again.

I'm so sorry that the surgery got rescheduled. How hard that would be to accept and deal with. I am thinking about you.

So sorry about the reschedule. We endured the same thing. Christian's surgery isn't until the 2nd of August. I haven't gotten myself completely psyched up yet but I am trying. We toured the hospital yesterday and I only had a mild breakdown. I know Kendall will do fine. Hoping you find peace during your wait!

Loved reading your post. It is so cute to hear you talk about your mom so lovingly. Must be where you get it from, cuz it sounds like you've got a good grip on it. It is hard to not have things go as we would like, however, I like how you try to look on the positive side of things.
Kendall is a lucky little girl. Would love to see the pics, I still have not yet figured out how to post pictures!

Candice you have such a cute family, and it's a beautiful place! I hope you and Kendall are doing ok. I'm wondering where the surgery is going to be, and is there a reason for the 2pm time. I was just thinking that is an odd time considering the fasting issues. Did they tell you to have her fast the night before or hours before surgery?

Hi Lori. K is having her surgery at The Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. I'm not sure why it is at 2, I thought it was a weird time myself. Her original surgery time on the previous date was 1. I think she can have formula up till 11...I think they're asking for 4 hours of fasting, I'll have to double check.

I hear that is an excellent hospital. All our love and prayers will be with Kendall and your family. Your're almost past all of this... hang in there!
