Brendan is 5 weeks post op and yesterday i noticed kind of a bubble just under the skin on his scar, it looks yellow like there is a puss collection just under the skin.
Is it too far post op for an infection?
Should i give it a few days and just treat it with warm compresses and ointment or should i make an appointment with his GP?

Fiona had what looked like a little pimple on her scar line, it was just an infected hair follicle...i put a little pressure on it, it popped and everything was fine after that.

Thank you Janet. I will give that a try when we get out of the shower this morning. He does not seem bothered by it at all

I put a hot compress on it then applied gentle pressure and A LOT of green pus came out and a little piece of fluff, I wonder if it was from his post op helmet?
Oh well its gone now and i have ointment on it
I would keep a close eye on it, Bradley had infected stitches and we had to go thru a regimen of antibiotics to clear it up.

It could be a suture abcess. Nick had that. I would send a picture of it and/or call your surgeon. If that is what it is, you just keep it clean, and put warm compresses on it periodically. It will eventually start to burst/ooze. But I'd make sure that is what it is.

Go real light with the ointment...that is a tip Dr. Fearon gave me when Nick had his suture abcess. He actually didn't want me to put any antiobiotic ointment on it, but I insisted so he said just a tiny tiny bit. He also said to be really good about keeping his hair out of it. I actually trimmed his hair around it.

Fiona had a reaction to the ointment, the nurse at the cranio-facial clinic said that some kids get the opposite reaction to what the cream should be doing, so we used vasoline after a while.
