Hi was just talking this over with my husband and we were wondering if children with metopic canio or any other cranio are low in weight? My daughter amanda is 1 years old and weighs just 16.8 pounds which is very low for her age. Noone can give us an answer why this is why she isnt gaining weight as she should be. Did anyone else have this problem?
Thank you
Keri

I maybe wrong but I don't think it has to do with metopic. My son (no cranio) who is 8 is 40 pounds (very skinny) but very health, we just had his blood work done. As for Fiona (my metopic baby) she's 6 months and 14 pounds. She's actually bigger then my son was at the same age.

Simon was hypotonic (had low muscle tone) and was underweight during and then a few months after his surgery. I assume it had to do with either the cranio or our syndrome. Once he was healed up some from the surgery and then started physical therapy, he also put on the pounds. He went from being off the charts at underweight to now being in the 95th - 100th %tile.

Miriam doesn't have low weight, but she does have low muscle tone. I haven't heard of anything about weight and cranio being related. I wish you the best in finding your answers.

amanda is both low weight and low muscle tone she receives both physical therepy and speech. I have asked many doctors if this was due to the cranio but they have said they cannot relate them together.

Charlie is 10 months and 25lb so i would'nt think it's anything to do with Amanda's cranio. Try not to worry too much x

Sylvia had coronal and metopic. She was 9lbs at birth and at age 1 she was 15lbs. Our pediatrician said it's possible that the cranio restricted her growth a bit. Her growth seemed to explode after her surgery. Developmentally she was right on but size she was little.
