Well, I got the letter in the mail today from the hospital. Fiona has 3 appointments on June 1st. 8:45 with the eye Doctor, 10:45 with the p/s and 11:30 for the CT scan. :nervous
I know that they sedate them for the scan...does this affect them for the whole day?

Woohoo on the appointments. Kalem was 5 weeks old for his first CT scan and he was almost 20 months for the second. He didn't need any sedation for the first but he need mild sedation for the second time. He was back to his old self within an hour, drinking and eating. But he wasn't fully sedated. I am sure other mommies can share you their experience with full sedation.

Ethan is almost 6 months and they didn't need to sedate him for the scan. They told me that he would have to be sedated, but after we got there, the techs were very patient and they let me nurse him and he cooperated after awhile. They just strapped him in really well with the blankets and velcro jacket.

I don't think that Fiona is going to cooperate with anyone at the hospital...she cries around ALL stangers. Noah my son was never like that, he was a very calm baby, Fiona is very shy and very loud!!!

How are you?
When my husband and I took Bryson to have his CT scan due they gave him something orally ( the same thing that Anne Nicole overdosed on I can't think of the name). He did great. He was a little sleepy and they told us that his head control may not be that good,so we didn't need to let him sit or stand unattened. Other than he did wonderfully. We still have yet to see the eye doctor but we do have an appt on June 6. I hope evrything goes as smoothly for you.

Hi Janet Two weeks ago Amanda had her Ct scan. She needed to be sedated as she is a year old. They gave it to her orally and within 15 minutes she was asleep in my arms. After they put her on a bed and we wheeled down to the ct room. I would say we were in there for about 15 minutes. we than came back to the room we wre in. They let amanda slleep for another 50 minutes and than they woke her to make sure she would drink her bottle and keep it down. After that we were free to take her home. She did sleep the 2 hour car ride home. By the time we got back home she was back to her regular rountine.
Good luck with your appointments

Keri

Hi Janet. They didn't need to sedate Max because I was able to rock him to sleep before the scan. I was relieved and lucky, because you just never know with these little ones. I go through my ups and downs daily. This is going to be a long road for all of us. Let me know what they do at the eye doctor. I'm curious how they test a babies eye sight. I know Max can see, but I know that his eyes are slightly too closely set so I'm anxious to see what the eye doctor has to say.

It's a week today that we go for the 3 appointments. I'm really nervous, were meeting the p/s...hopefully I don't blank out like I did when we met the n/s...I was in shock and I forgot to ask the questions I wanted to.
I'm just scared because Fiona cries around anyone she doesn't know, if people come up to her when she's in the stroller and say Hi to her, she starts balling. How are they suppose to do get close to her to do the eye exam or for the p/s to examine her???
