I think were right at the 8 weeks post op mark and now they tell me they may have to take out the silicone implant due to rejection. :( So far we have 2 site infections in the stitches in the last 3 weeks (they put in dissolving stitches and I think a piece remained inside) and when we got up yesterday the lid itself was all swollen. There treating it as in infection for now but if its still swollen come Monday we have to see the plastic surgeon again and discuss removal for rejection:( Her eye has been looking droopier then usual too and we took pic's yesterday at picture people and well, see for yourself:(

Hi, Satori, so sorry you have to go through all that. Keep us posted about what the surgeon says. I hope it is an infection and they don't have to remove the silicone. If they do, will they go ahead and wait till she's older and use fascia instead? Take care.

I have no idea, she wouldn't discuss it over the phone. The concern right now though is she has already lost a great deal of vision in that eye due to the ptosis and there trying to prevent further loss.

Well its not rejection but infection:( She's got 4 infections going on in her body right now and were meeting with her immunologist to discuss IVIG on Monday so there is hope at least of stopping the recurrent infections:)
I have to admit, I showed my mom the pic above and all she could see was what was wrong in the picture, droopy face, low hairline etc. She didn't see the happy baby who is her grandchild! Some people do not deserve to be grandparents I think!

Your little girl is absolutely beautiful, she looks like she's got a real cheeky side to her. Unfortunately as i have also discovered, relatives can also be rather tactless but im sure your mum loves her to bit's also. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that your little beauty fights those nasty infections xx

I hope they can get the infections under control soon. But at least that sounds like they won't have to remove the silicone. Keep us posted.

My mom is acting that way to. It's like she doesn't like her becasue she has the syndrome. She couldn't even come to visit while she ws in the hospital for 4 days for this surgery, when she was ther for 2 days when she had the g-tube out in, and when she was in the nicu when she was born she only visited her the day I went home. That was a 16 day stay, and I think the only reason that she went that day is that I wanted to say goodbye to her before I left and I told her to come up there with me. This has really put a damper on our relationship. A few weeks ago I got the pictures back from penney that I had taken of the girls, that is exactly how my mom was to, just about Presley, had nothing but good things to say about Chasie. She's so cute, look at that smile, absolutly beautiful. Not one good comment about Presley. Your daughter is beautiful, don't worry about what your mother says. Those are her issues, not your daughters. I know it is terrible to have to go through that, I 'm right there with you. I never realized that there was a clause in grandparents unconditional love. It must be "if your grandchild is not perfect its ok to treat them differently or point out every little thing that is different about them".

AWWW, she is beautiful I love her eye color! I am happy they can treat the infection and prevent possible removal.
I will pray for her, many blessings.
