Hi everyone.....my son had his 9 mo appt yesterday, and his head circumference is in the 70th percentile, and has always been in the 85th range....doesn't sound like a big deal, and it probably isn't, but the Dr wants to measure his head again in 6 weeks- just to make sure she sees growth. She wasn't worried at all- of course I asked a thousand times if she was, and she said not at all, she just wants to measure again before his 12 month visit. There had been growth, just not at the rate that his head had been growing up to 6 months. My question is, do you think him wearing the molding helmet is controlling the growth, and perhaps restricting it a little? I am curious to know about others' experiences with head circumference and helmet therapy. One more thing to worry about!! Do you even pay attention to head circumference, or is it not a big deal? Otherwise- he's in the 90-95th for length and weight! I'm afraid that his head will stop growing. Probably silly, I know. Thanks!

We didn't use a helmet, so I can't really help there. I can help in that all my girls ranged from 95% down to 50% at different points in there first 18 months. I think it's just different growing spurts and what not. Of course w/ Emily when it didn't stay consistant- I worried (the other 2 I didn't think twice about)- but just like the other 2- it was normal for them. I'm sure it will be fine, but understand why you are worrying! :hugg

I had a similar issue with my sons head circumference for a while, but everything turned out all right. They always get us worried though I am sure it will all be okay, as far as helmet we did not use one my son had Sagittal Cranio and had a strip craniectomy done at 5 months old. He will be 5 years old this May.
Many hugs and blessings, take care.
