I'll say my prayers. Can't wait to hear you are done with surgery and how well he is doing! :pray :hugg
Jon Jr. got through the surgery ok. !!!! He was in the OR for one hour fifteen minutes. I want to let everyone know the prayers worked. The micro machine they use did malfuction and the surgeons said they got through it ok... I know it was the prayers that got them through. It was tough for Brandi, after she saw him in recovery she came out and fell into my arms. My son Jon read some of the posts while Jon Jr. was in surgery. As I sat there looking at him, I realized how proud I am. Whew, it wasn't easy, but what a reward! His voice at times was silent, but when he spoke his voice was solid through the tears. I am a single parent, I am his daddy too, and damn did I do a good job cuz he is a really great father.
It started at 6 am. We checked in at admitting, and went up to the neuro waiting room. Brandi gave the baby a bottle at the last possible moment... 11pm last night. They took us to a private waiting room-area, the surgeon came in, we spoke re: questions. One by one the entire team came in to meet and talk to us. Jon Jr. was his happy self. He was not too bothered with nothing to eat or drink. The pre op labs had to be redone... *!*! But the girl did a heal stick and he was more upset at her holding his heal. Luckily he was warm and there was not a problem. Two members of the team made a great contact with us and the baby. Both younger men, fathers and extreamly caring. When it came time , at 07:32 they took him away with no fuss at all from him. I looked at the kids and what I saw took me... tough me, to my knees. It's the hardest thing in my life I've ever experienced. ( Cindy if you read this give your dad a hug for me)
I left exausted at 3 and slept hard for a few hours. Jon and Brandi are still there with the baby. Jon said he is doing really good. He fussed a little here and there but he seems to be getting through it ok. I packed them up with plenty of fresh fruits and stuff to munch, extra clothes, but it's going to be a long night.
:woohoo Way to go little man! You rock! :rockin Lori, Jon, and Brandi we knew you all could do it. Welcome to the other side (again for you Lori). Hugs to you guys. Let Jon know that he is welcome here (you don't always have to be a tough guy). Thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery.
Woohoo Jon Jr.!!!! Lori I'm so glad things went well!! I'll keep saying speedy recovery prayers and let your son and Brandi know we are thinking of them. (((Big Hugs)))

Thanks for the update, I've been wondering how he's doing. Your words brought me right back to the morning of surgery. I think our babies are amazing how they know just when to be tough for there mommies and daddies- normal circumstances- going that long w/o food would be raging screams (at least that would be normal for Emily), but the day of surgery- so calm- I remember thanking God for that calmness, tears from my baby would have made it just so much harder. Way to go Jon Jr! Lori, Jon and Brandi- way to go to you also. Rest when you can. Keep loving your little one and he'll come through this all just fine! :hugg's to you all!

Lori... and so you should be proud. You seem to bring tears to my eyes whenever I read your posts. What a wonderful lady you are, and what a wonderful family you have!
Virtual hugs to you.

Thanks for keeping us updated! I am so glad that you all are on the other side! I appreciate the reminder of how special our cranio grandparents are. They had to be so brave and strong with their little ones, and then they have to be even braver and stronger with their grand little ones. I hope to have half the strength that you and my father have shown if Simon has affected children someday.
