Well, tomorrow is the day. Skylie has her appointment with the geneticist at 1:30 pm on Wednesday. I've never done anything like this before so I don't really know what goes on at the appointment. They told me that it will be about an hour long, but they never explained anything to me.
Do any of you know what is generally done at the geneticist appointment?? Just having an idea of what will happen would be a bit easier for me to deal with than not knowing anything. Thank you all for being here and helping me through all of this. =)

There is really no need to worry. With both of our geneticist appointments, they examined Dillon looking for any physical traits that might be associated with a syndrome and took a detailed family history. It was not traumatic. It was actually interesting as they are tuned in to what they are looking for. In our appointments it was noted that Dillon and I shared a lot of physical abnormalities that I wouldn't have thought were abnormal. Things like the curvature of the fingers and how certain parts of our ears are shaped (always wondered why I couldn't use those ear bud headphone things). They were also kind enough to point out how assymetrical my facial features. I can't look in the mirror anymore without seeing how crooked I am. Will your husband be joining you?

Our experiance was pretty much the same as what Doug described. At our first appointment they looked Vance over from head to toe, and I was amazed at all the little things they pointed out was "abnormal." Like the space between his big toe and next toe is too big, the lines on the bottom of his feet are too deep and his fingers are too crooked. That is just a few of the things that were mentioned. We also went over family history and they did draw some blood to run tests. We still haven't got any answers as to what is going on with Vance.

Our experience was pretty the same as in the previous posts. They ask so many questions about the health history of everyone they can think of. I left feeling naked, for a lack of a better word. We went back later to have blood drawn for tests, and then we received the results several weeks later.

Thank you all for your replies...that makes me feel a lot better.
Yes, my husband is getting off work early to go with me, and we are also taking our 2 year old. To me, Skylie looks and acts perfectly normal so I really hope there is nothing else wrong with her.
I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow! Thanks again for your replies, and we would really appreciate prayers if any of you are willing to pray for us. =)
