Has anyone ever used a Hanger orthotics to get their helmets? The NS suggested a guy 2 hours away and since there will be so many visits we were looking for someone a little closer. Hanger was one that was suggested by someone but wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.
Specifically I'm looking for someone (orthotist) in the Tampa/Clearwater area.
I have an appt tomorrow!! Please let me know ASAP!! Thanks!

Hi Carrie. I use Hanger for my daughters helmet. I'm in Missouri so I don't know anyone in the Tampa area, sorry! But I have nothing but good things to say about Hanger and their employees. We are about 3 hours away from our surgeon and they recommended Hanger to us for Sophia's helmet. They have a local office in our town and we meet with them every 2 or 3 weeks for fittings. Their method of scanning and fitting the helmets is really easy on the kiddos and they have a 2 to 3 day turn around when making the helmet. Let me know if you have any questions.

We're using Hanger here in NYC. The people are great and always can explain things in easy to understand terms. My son's first helmet was cut wrong and they made a new one at no cost to us. It's been 8 weeks and we should be out of it soon, I'm meeting with my CFS next week.

Glad to report that I LOVE the 'helmet' guy at Hanger!!! I was so worried I would be stuck with someone that I didn't like for a year! Luckily, he's sooo nice and funny. Thank you for all the advice!!!

Had to report that my Hanger guy that loved so very much had to leave for a while due to health reasons. The guy they sent me to as a replacement wasn't cutting it. I've switched to an Orthotist 2 hours away (the original guy the surgeon recommended) and he's been awesome! I'm finally happy!

I'm glad you were able to find someone that knows what they are doing and that you are happy with. Garrett looks adorable in his helmet!

If your NS suggested Star Cranial in Maitland (near Orlando), I really can't say enough about their quality of work. Our CFS (who was most concerned about the aesthetic aspect of our procedure) was truly astonished at how great my daughter's head looked with her helmet therapy, and said that he was glad to have begun working with Star (she was his first patient to be sent to them because it's a new office here in FL) -- because other orthotists he'd worked with in the past hadn't shown results like hers.
Just to throw that out there. ;-) It's not that bad of a ride if you catch the 429 near Lakeland off I-4 to bypass the bad Orlando traffic.
