Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a syndrome that wouldn't have any other symptoms than the closing of the sutures. My daughter has saggital cs and my husband also had the same thing. To me, it seems that this must be genetic for them both to get it but her doctor says that this is just a fluke because she doesn't have any of the other syndrome related symptoms. Research that I have done seems to support this but I am worried regardless. My husband is one of eight and the only one who had this but my daughter is our first and I wonder when we have more children what our chances will be of having another cranio baby. What do you think?

Hmmm.... I agree, that it's a weird 'fluke' that both dad and baby have the same thing.....I would think there was something there- I didn't realize genetic cranio had to be related to a syndrome, but I guess it maybe makes sense also. We have a few on here that have parent/child cranio......I'd be interested to see what they say......Are you going to do some genetic testing to see if they come up w/ anything?

Erin,

Is she seeing a geneticist? Both my kids have cranio from me. I didn't even know about my condition until after my son was reffered to a geneticist. Some of the physical abnormalities can be subtle, but I would think any doctor would pick them out. Of course I spent 27 years not knowing about mine. We assume I too have cranio, but it's never been officially diagnosed by a NS.

If it is linked through genetics it is probably autosomal (only one gene in the pair is affected). To my knowledge, most craniofacial syndromes fall in this category. This means that your husband has a 50/50 chance of passing on either the good or bad gene. I would recommend seeing a geneticist if you're not already. I also agree with Jennifer about pursuing genetic testing. If they find the gene, it might give you more answers and open up other options if you're interested.

In my case, I'm the only one out of 7 to have the syndrome and my 2 kids are the only ones out of 17 grandchildren. All our testing has been negative. We know it's there, we just can't find it. We wanted another child and took the risk. I wouldn't do it any different cause she's the sweetest thing.

Hi you said that you have a condition what is it? I too think that this is genetics however we had the testing done and they said they found nothing. Did they tell you because of what you have that means that cranio is part of that? Nicole

My son had sagittal cranio too and had the genetic testing done. I guess it was a fluke thing that happened seeing as his genetic tests showed nothing and nobody in my or hubby's family ever had it...he has no other syndrome either. Its hard for me to accept its just a fluke thing though!!! I like reasons for everything!
