Brandt had a check-up with our CFS, Dr. Mann, last week. Dr. Mann said, "He looks so good, I almost forget what kind of synostosis he had." Things are going great! He does still have 3 spots that are not filled in, but Dr. Mann is not concerned about them. He said when Brandt is 2 1/2 or so, if they are still considerable size, we would start talking about doing some "spackling."

Here is my big guy! He turns 17 months tomorrow.

You guys are all so sweet. :) Our NS/CFS team never really gave his type of surgery a name, but I'll tell you what they did. Basically, they took out a huge piece of skull on top (about 2 inches past the sagittal suture on each side). They also removed a strip of skull that included both lambdoid sutures. Then they removed the occipital bone off the back, reshaped it, and put it back with dissolving stitches. They also took material from the lambdoid suture and placed it back on the top of his head where the sagittal suture should be. Nothing was done to his forehead.

Thank you all so much for the support, both then and now. You guys are the best! ::hugg
