I have been watching Sylvie's forehead and checking the screws and plates now and then (she is 15 months post op). I have noticed lately that on the left side right by her temple area she has a horizontal crease. This crease seems to be getting deeper. Do you think this is something I should just continue to watch or do I need to run right in? I am thinking they will not do anything to "fix" it yet anyhow and maybe I should just wait until our next appointment. Unfortunately we are not due to see the surgeon again until next September. Our surgeon said that we would notice the plates dissolve somewhere around 18 months post op. Hmmmmm........

Had my child never had surgery- I'd tell you to wait it out. Experiencing surgery- I know you want to run into the office today. Has it changed quickly or over the last few months? Maybe give it a month or so and then just call for an opinion of what they think?

I have no experience with the screws and stuff because Matt did not have that but wait till the holidays are over and call your doctor for advice if it really bothers you :hugg don't worry I am sure she will be fine.

do you know if there was a plate there? maybe the plate is slowly dissolving and exposing something -- maybe where a cut was made??? I really have no clue. Just call and see what they think. It may take the doctor a while, but he'll talk to you. Or maybe ask for an email.
I always have to act frantic -- i wont take a nurses opinion, i want to hear it from the doctor. of course, then the nurses dont like you all that much. But only an MD can put me at ease.
Everything is surely okay. and you're right. even it there were something wrong, they are going to fix it tomorrow -- i would wait til the first of the year and get the doctors full attention. He's probably a little hard to get a hold of now anyways!!!
Good luck!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TOO!

Lisa... you have me feeling Austins head, hehe.
His right side temple has a crease in it as well, but I can no longer feel his plates. Immediately post-op with Austin, I could tell that the bone cracked a little bit there while they were trying to shape it. We were told by the PS that the bone will continue to grow after the plates are gone and won't stop growing and changing until he is 8 years old.
I would keep my eye on it, but unless she is acting different or seeming like it is painful to her, I would wait until after the holidays to call them.

:thinking Thank you all for your insights! I am just a worrying mom. Sylvie seems to be doing so well developmentally. I am just wondering if this crease will deepen. I think I am going to continue to watch and see. I'm sure the doc will not do anything immediate anyhow. I wouldn't say this is a drastic change, just a change. I know the bone is supposed to continue to fill in. I just did not expect to see a crease? She looks great otherwise. She is still assymmetrical a bit but I expect that. No one, not even someone without cranio, is perfectly symmetrical. Just call me a head picker!!

Hi!
Our surgery is not for another ten or so days so I may be speaking out of ignorance but our cs did say that down the road frankie may need a sort of building up in the temple area. He said kind of like adding a little paste or plaster to the area. For cosmetic reasons only!!!!
