Well, we are six days post-op now and Grant is doing fabulous. So much better than I ever would have dreamed of. The swelling is starting to really go down now (still have a ways to go there though.) His little personality is starting to show again too.....lots of smiles and laughs. I love seeing how strong he is....I admire his strength!
Our main struggle is that he wakes up at least five or six times each night screaming. Usually all it takes is my husband or I comforting him and he goes right back to sleep. I have been keeping up with the tylenol, so I don't think he is in pain, so I'm guessing it is an anxiety issue. Has anyone else seen this and if so, how long does it last? We're tired!!

Zachary would wake up screaming after his surgery, not every night but sometimes. It last for a while just getting more infrequent until it stopped. He was also scared of the dark and couldn't be left in a room by himself while awake for quite a while.

Ian had that night/nap waking too, and it's very scary as they seem so inconsolable. I just would hold Ian until he finally settled and went back to sleep. It shouldn't last too long, just hang in there, it's par for the course. Stay strong, Momma, you're doing an awsome job!!!
Yes it is common, Bradley's lasted about 3-4 weeks post-op. I do not think it's a pain issue either, just needing comfort. I would hold him as snuggly as I could, and sleep with him in my arms to help.

I think they all do......I personally think it was the drugs with Avery. he has such a hard time with pain meds.

Fiona had them up until about 3 months ago....she is almost 2 years post op (in Sept) I feel for you and I pray they don't last as long as Fi's did.

Marky had them to for ages but the later ones weren't to do with his op it's heartbreaking when they wake up from a nightterror isn't it, it always really upset me but when you think about what they went thru it's no wonder they have them a phsychologist told me that because they have no way of explaining how they feel it comes out when there asleep. I hope they don't last the poor little guy long x

Zara is 10 weeks post op and still wakes every night numerous time, just standingin the cot crying, and it's only me who can settle her, i am sure it is due to the surgery, she was in a great sleeping routine pre op.... I hope Grant settles down faster then Zara xxx
