new here, and need some help

Layne just was fitted for his helmet today and I was looking for advice and stickers...:sigh

Layne had the "pi" procedure for his saggital Feb 20, 2009. Now we have developed a Metopic ridge and back to long and narrow. And they never could "fix" the piont in the back of his head. Now after going to a different doctor (craniofacial surgion) vs a peds PS and NS, we are starting helmet therapy June 29, 2009. I am hopeful that this will work but still very saddened....not sure why but I cried on the way home from Gillette Children's hospital today:sigh worry? failure? I dont know. Any advice?

you get to cry. I would cry to. how frustrating! It has to almost feel like you are starting over again! you are back to not knowing and thats not fair because you already crossed this bridge once. there are several babes on here right now who had sagittal and are now dealing with metopic and I don't see any commonality between them all. I have to say though... Layne will be ridiculously cute in a helmet!!!

Oh sweetie, I still cry sometimes seeing my sweet girl in her helmet. I hate that she has to wear it all the time, but I know why and I understand it was my decision, but that doesn't always make it easy. The crazy Cranio journey doesn't stop the day of surgery, it seems like it just goes on and on. Anyway...the helmet is all that bad. It's so easy to make them look adorable. I used scrapbooking stickers for Sophie's. I would stay away from paper stickers as they fade, and peel off easily and end up looking bad. The first week in the helmet was hard, it was just an adjustment for us and for her. But now she doesn't mind it at all and it's just like second nature.
